We don't know exactly what caused this. Our best guess is that the recent rain washed some kind of chemical (cleaner/pesticide) into the river.

We called Parks & Wildlife, they said they collected samples from the water and picked up the dead fish, and they'll call us back with the results. Their initial theory is this:
"Rain water hitting the hot ground ran into the river, raising the water temperature drastically, pushing the oxygen out of the water. The fish suffocated."

The story made the news. We reported it on Tuesday, they went out Wednesday morning, and it was on the news Thursday night. But no, no credit given to us.
