What to See and Eat in Akko? Join us to find out...
In this video I am touring Akko, UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Akko (aks Acre) a city in the Galilee region of northern Israel. Akko is my second favorite city in Israel. There is something special about it.
This time to avoid heavy traffic I decided to travel to Akko by train which is a convenient option.
Such a mesmerizing experience walking through the high-walled alleys, a templar tunnel and underground passages. Also visited a Turkish bathhouse- "Hammam el-Basha” that was built at the end of the 18th century by Governor of Akko, Jazzar Pasha.
Akko was ruled by the Romans, Ottomans, Crusaders, Mameluke, Byzantines, and British. It is dotted with ruins from the Ottoman Empire, and medieval crusades, as well as ruins below street level, earning it the moniker a city beneath a city.
Akko was one of the most significant towns in ancient times Akko, the ideal fusion of East and West. Jews, Christians, and Muslims have all coexisted here for generations, as have other ethnic groups.
As they say, the real essence of a city lies in its local market. The colorful market in Akko is just a gem of this place.
To conclude out trip we went to have lunch at the famous restaurant in Akko and in the whole Israel- "Uri Buri" , owned by a legendary chef Uri Jeremias. If you want to understand what is sea food perfection then don't forget to pay a visit to this unique restaurant.
