Hey everyone Jennifer from Tarle speech with your two for Tuesday.

We have homophones today. These words are spelled differently. They have different meanings but they are pronounced exactly the same way. The words are:
jam which are fruit preserves or to wedge between objects and
jamb the side piece on a doorway or window

So let's take a look at our words to say these words correctly we have three little sounds!

Yes we have a silent letter here, the b, we are not going to say that sound at all. So we're going to start with the j sound. To do this touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth and then pull it quickly back into the middle of the mouth. J

Now move to the short ah. To do this open your mouth in a wide circle. Tip of your tongue is low. Back of your tongue is pulled high up.

And then end with the m m. To do this close your lips air moves through your nose. m

jamb jamb jamb

And now for a sentence.

I need to jam something into the door jamb.
