(22 Jan 2020) US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he had great confidence in the US Senate as it plunged into his impeachment trial.
Trump said US economic growth was the buzz at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, but reporters were focused on the impeachment trial underway back in Washington.
He held a news conference on Wednesday before leaving the gathering of top business and political leaders where he rattled off a long list of positive economic statistics, and then took questions about his impeachment.
He said he would leave it to the Senate as to whether there would be witnesses called during his impeachment trial.
As Trump departed, climate activists wrote a huge sign in the Davos snow reading: "Act on climate".
