OK so the camera itself is a solid unit. It takes really good photos, and it's got automatic white balance which is great for if the camera looks EW instead of NS. The camera is competent looking at the sun and seems to have good dynamic range. The other nice thing is that the cameras night vision is spectacular, even when I have the IR illumination set to the lowest setting. The combination of digital processing and IR illumination means the batteries (all 8 of them) are going to last a good long time.

The screen is good also, and accurately represents whats going on. The buttons are big enough to be manipulated with a glove on and give a satisfying click when pressed so there's positive feedback. The clasps are the D ring and pivot clasps which is a great, proven design. No worry about the plastic breaking. Don't worry about the rubber gasket either, it's huge.

Now for the awesome part, and I mean the AWESOME part. The app! The app shows you real time video when it's connected which is AMAZING. Blew my mind the first time I used it - I setup the camera in the woods behind my house and then later walked up to the woods and opened the app and could see what the camera saw. There's a 1s or so delay, but the feature is INCREDIBLE.

It's important you read the instructions before trying to link up the camera and a phone. Only one phone can be linked up with the camera at a time. The wifi will sleep on the camera, and has to be woken up. There's a remote for that, which comes in the box. The remote has slots on the side which are the same size as the strap for the camera so you can put it on your keyring, or simply leave it on the strap to wake up the wifi. The wifi range is about 20ft or so from my testing. Anything further than that resulted in unreliable operation of the app. Don't expect to be able to access the camera like a wifi access point, there's no antennas nor a provision to add antennas. Also batteries are super important - buy good batteries. Low batteries will give you a bad experience. Mixed batteries? Forget it.

The app also requires you to download the pictures first before viewing them. You get a preview on the camera tab, but then click on them and hit the download icon to actually pull them back to your phone for full sized viewing. It's fine. I don't have a problem with it. It would be nice to be able to configure all the camera settings through the app but the app is really just designed for pictures and video and giving you a preview when setting up the camera with the real-time view.

Another nice feature is the LED on the front which gives you feedback when the camera is going to go off. Really helps to calibrate the distance.

Aside of that, the camera comes with a metal baseplate and arm which can be bent all sorts of ways to mount the camera on just about anything at any angle. Remember to level the camera.

The manual is good, and readable. Read the manual. After I read it, I had a much better experience with the camera than when I was just messing around with it, trying to wing it.
