Bear Grylls, Chief Scout, talks to Nina Hossain on ITV’s Lunchtime News about Squirrel Scouts which have been launched by The Scouts today with a tailor-made programme for 4 and 5 year-olds.

Over 200 Squirrel Dreys will be opening in locations across the UK, with priority given to those communities most affected by the pandemic. This builds on a successful pilot programme.

To roll-out the programme UK-wide, grown-ups are being called on to volunteer to give young children a chance to thrive after the pandemic.
The emphasis for Squirrels will be on having outdoor adventures, making new friends and learning new things, recognised by a new set of badges.

Squirrels creates a positive, safe environment for young children to develop, as they learn essential skills for life. It’s the first time that The Scouts have launched a new section in 35 years.
