🏕🌲🐾 We went backcountry camping, and it was AMAZING!
I love adventures but when my health took a turn to the worse I didn’t think I would be able
to enjoy wilderness camping again.
How do you get to go on such adventures with all your chronic illnesses you may be asking?

HERE ARE MY TIPS FOR MAKING ADVENTURES IN THE WILDERNESS:

👉🏻Book 2 or 3 different dates so you can have options in case you have a flare just
around the time and if the weather is bad. You can cancel the ones you don’t use.
👉🏻Plan weeks/months in advance
👉🏻Pack everything over the course of a few days,
and have everything ready at least a day before so you can rest before the trip.
👉🏻Avoid other stressors around the trip time
👉🏻Have someone else drive to the location so you can rest
in the car on the way there
👉🏻Wear compression stockings and comfortable clothes
👉🏻Choose canoe backcountry camping and use a water-taxi service.
They take you and your canoe to your chosen location so you get to decide
how much you want to paddle
👉🏻Dirnk electrolytes
👉🏻Protect yourself from the elements: sun, rain, cold and bugs
👉🏻Bring your own water to avoid GI issues
👉🏻Have an emergency beacon for SOS
👉🏻Bring extra of your regular medications
👉🏻Bring your emergency medications
👉🏻Bring pain killers and muscle relaxants
👉🏻Bring a hot water bottle (for sore muscles and for keeping warm at night)
👉🏻Invest in a good sleep mat and bag
👉🏻If your diet allows using pre-cooked or dehydrated meals so you
don’t have to use energy with cooking
👉🏻Bring portable mobility aids if you need them
👉🏻Be open-minded. You may need to cancel the trip or cut it short.

I really enjoy planning trips. I think it is super fun, and it gives me something to look forward to. Even if I end up not going,
at least I had fun planning and it doesn’t mean you can’t try at a later time or the following year.

I’m Daniela I have been diagnosed with several chronic illnesses. I look normal, I do things, have a job and go on vacations, but inside I'm sick. I live with several chronic illnesses and they affect my daily life. I am in constant pain and struggle with brain fog. Although I'm constantly looking for new doctors, new treatments and solutions I have also accepted my illnesses and do not let them define me. In this channel, I share a little bit of everything. Information about my conditions, my travels, my dreams, my journey, my life. This channel is about life through chronic illness lenses. Come and join me and see what I'm up to lately.
