Hey guys, it's Samantha here and welcome to the Mytanfeet youtube channel. Today we are in San Jose, which is the capital city of Costa Rica. it's actually kind of a rainy day today so we are going to visit two of our favorite museums in San Jose, Costa Rica so let's go.

Both museums are located in downtown San Jose so you can easily Uber or taxi there, or walk if your hotel is close by.

The first museum we visited was the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, located underneath the Plaza de la Cultura. This museum is owned by the Central Bank of Costa Rica and has an extensive collection of Pre-Columbian artifcats such as ceramic, gold, stone and more.
Over 3000 artifacts are in this museum, with the gold collection dating all the way back from 300 to 400 BC. The exhibits share information about the artifacts, how they were made, and the importance of gold in Costa Rican history and culture.
They also have an exhibit displaying banknotes and coins to depict the history of Costa Rican currency, the colon. They even have the country's very first coin that was minted in 1825.

The second museum we visited was the Jade Museum, which was just a couple blocks away.
This museum is right next to the national congress building and the National museum of Costa Rica.

The Jade Museum was founded in 1977 and holds the world's largest collection of American Jade. It has five floors of permanent exhibits and two temporary exhibition halls that are normally related to national and international cultural activities.
The Jade Museum is open everyday from 8 AM to 5 PM and you can purchase tickets upon arrival. We recommend 2 hours and it is a great place for both adults and kids.

You can visit both museums on your own but if you'd like to dig deeper into Costa Rican history, we highly recommend a city tour which stops at these museums, so you'll have a guide to share more interesting information and take you around the highlights of the city.
