2024-09-14 Greek Orthodox Matins/Orthros Divine Liturgy St John Chrysostom: Elevation of the Cross

LIVE High Definition (HD) broadcast of the Greek Orthodox Matins (Morning Prayers)/Orthros and Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom commemorating the Elevation of the Venerable and Life-Giving Cross.

Constantine's mother, Saint Helen journeyed to Jerusalem to find the True Cross. After discovering three crosses, the correct one was identified by its healing power. It was lifted on high by Archbishop Macarius, and the people rejoiced. A portion of the Cross was taken to Constantinople, while the rest remained in Jerusalem until the Persians stole it in 614. Emperor Heraclius later retrieved it and returned it to Jerusalem.
