The last few months my espresso machine has been having issues keeping hot. I've come to find on forums that a Solid State Relay (or Static Relay) is a common failure point. This could be because the location, and poor heat dispersion w/o a proper heat sync.
In this video i'll walk you thru diagnosing, removal, and my repair experience with an physically out-of-spec, budget friendly part.
A quick disclaimer I repaired a Profitec Pro 500 which is a PRE 2022 "update" so they may have well addressed the SSR failure, i don't know. If your Pro 500 has a PID that is visible (mounted on the front near the power switch) you have the updated version and not this one.

I will say i LOVE this espresso machine!!! I bought it specifically because of the ease of repair as a DIYer and TONS of features. Shoutout to a whole latte love for their amazing videos! Can't beat the machine for the price.

What does the Solid State Relay do?
The PID will call for heat by sending a low voltage (~16v DC) , and the solid state relay then switches the AC high voltage on to the boiler element. When the SSR fails, it does not switch on the high voltage to the boiler element.

The original part i've found costs over $100 so this is an economical way to get you brewin' again!
