Podcast: Surviving Everest & social death with Sandy Hill

Описание к видео Podcast: Surviving Everest & social death with Sandy Hill

Imagine spending years training to climb the highest and most treacherous mountain in the world. You are midway through your journey and suddenly a storm of enormous proportions hits. The temperature drops to freezing sub zero degrees, winds are blowing at 100km per hour and you’re unable to see your own feet let alone your tent with essential supplies inside it or the 10,000ft cliff drop in front of you. Mountaineer, sportswoman and intrepid traveller Sandy Hill survived the deadliest Everest climb in history, with 8 individuals losing their lives. On top of the agony of this near-death experience and losing friends and teammates, Sandy has also faced a social death as a consequence of a book written about the climb, pointing to a woman, Sandy, blaming her for the 1996 Mount Everest disaster.

Sandy’s story is one of despair and of hope, rising from the depths and overcoming physical, emotional and mental trauma and she shares her story for the first time on a podcast with Harvest Series. You can also tune into the episode on Spotify here: spoti.fi/3pxgDJj
