Catholic Struggles When Pressed for Good Reasons to Believe | Matt Dillahunty and Jimmy Snow

James calls in expressing concerns about mythicism, the view that Jesus was a purely mythical figure. The hosts clarify neither of them hold that position. They question James on his Catholic beliefs, asking him to provide specifics on how prayer is answered by God.

James gives an example of his brother getting out of a bad marriage and finding a better career after prayer, but admits he can't demonstrate God's involvement. Pressed on the differences between Catholicism and Protestantism, James struggles to articulate why one would be true over the other.

When asked what method he uses to determine which religious claims are true, he admits he has none. The hosts find his reasons for belief unconvincing and ask him to call back next week with solid reasons he's Catholic and why others should believe too. They encourage him to write these reasons down ahead of time.
