Idiot Proof Garbage Plate

Good afternoon my fellow Idiots! Welcome back for another episode of Idiot Proof Cooking. I am super stoked about today's episode! I'm making the garbage plate, a famous Rochester dish originating at a restaurant called Nick Tahou Hots. Last fall, Meg and I drove down to Rochester for the day just to try the garbage plate and it was so good! Definitely worth the 2 hour drive. The combination of macaroni salad, homefries, burgers and meat sauce come together to make one hell of an amazing dish. So I've decided to make one for the channel today.

Macaroni Salad Ingredients:
2 cups pasta of your choice
1 celery stalk, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
2 dill pickles, diced
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp dijon mustard

Meat Sauce Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef
6oz can tomato paste
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice
kosher salt
black pepper

Homefries Ingredients:
5 to 6 yellow potatoes, par boiled and diced
3 tbsp butter
olive oil for frying
kosher salt
black pepper
