DIY HANGING TEALIGHTS

Materials:
Wood Dowels 3/8" diameter
Invisible String
LED Tealights
Various Feathers (I used larger turkey feathers)
Feather Boa
Command Clear Wire Hooks

To make the HANGING TEALIGHTS:
1) Open the bottom of the tea light and place invisible string over the centre. Then put back the cover to secure the string.
2) Measure the boa to go around the circumference of the tealight. Cut to length. Secure with a few dabs of hot glue.
3) For the individual feathers, just cut off the end and fill with hot glue. You can insert the invisible string and it will hold almost instantly. You can tie two feathers together and hang them off the tea lights.
4) Now it's time to hang! Make sure to clean and prep the ceiling using a sponge.
5) Adhere the Command Clear Wire Hooks to the ceiling (following the directions on the package) Wait for an hour to adhere.
6) Measure the height that you want the dowels to sit above your table and cut invisible string to length. Go ahead and hang the dowels.
7) Turn the tea lights on, hang from the dowel...and you're done!


WEATHERED WOOD BENCH

Materials:
Wood Bench (Ikea - Skogsta)
1 part latex paint, white
1 part water
Paint brushes
Sanding Block
Plastic sheeting
Scotch Brite Scrub Sponges
Scotch Blue Delicate Painter's Tape
Gold spray Paint

1) Mix 1 part latex paint with 1 part water and mix really well.
2) Sand the bench and wipe off any dust using a sponge.
3) Apply a thin coat of the paint mixture to the wood bench, let it soak in for a few minutes.
4) Using a sponge, remove some of the paint using long strokes going with the grain. Feel free to do this a few times until you get the look you want. Allow to dry indoors overnight.
5) Next day, take the scrub side of the sponge and start to distress the edges of the bench to give it a weathered look.
6) To add a modern twist, tape off the legs of the bench about 1/3 down using the painter's tape.
7) Use plastic sheeting and tape to make sure that the rest of the painted bench is protected.
8) Spray the legs gold, at least 2 coats and allow to dry.
9) Feel free to apply a sealant to create a more durable finish.
