Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi says ties with the United States remain "very positive", after US President Donald Trump reaffirmed their personal friendship and downplayed earlier remarks about "losing India" to China. "Deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump's sentiments and positive assessment of our ties," Modi said in a statement posted on X on Saturday, adding that India and the US "have a very positive and forward-looking comprehensive and global strategic partnership". Meanwhile, Navarro accused India of "profiteering" from Russian oil imports and claimed its tariffs were costing American jobs. "FACTS: India highest tariffs costs US jobs. Community Notes swiftly intervened, stating India's oil purchases were for "energy security" and did not breach sanctions. Elon Musk also jumped in without mentioning Navarro, stating that his community notes "corrects everyone without exception".
