Eddie Burkey was a guitarist from Downey California

Born in 1945 in Akron Ohio he and his friend Les Roberts moved to Downey California in 1960 and Eddie learnt to play guitar with help from Les

Eddie and Les were part of a group called The Goldenaires that recorded two singles in 1964

When that band stopped recording Eddie and Les began recording various songs for future work on which included “Emerald Shadows” and “Thunderhead” (which was retitled to “Stepping Stones”)

A few months later Eddie briefly teamed up with Gemcor Records and released those songs in 1965 he also played with a band that also recorded on Gemcor The Rumours (to which he provided the guitar solo on the A side of their single “Hold Me Now”)

Eddie was then drafted soon after the 45 was released but would marry his high school sweetheart Karen in 1966 (while on leave and before going to Vietnam and Les was drafted that same year)

After Les and Eddie’s discharge they did graphic arts design and Karen would give birth to Brandon and she and Eddie moved down to the L.A area where Eddie and Les started Town & Country Apartment Care (which was something to finance their waning music business)

They would meet DeWayne Quirico (drummer for The Bobby Fuller Four) plus some other well known country entertainers who Eddie and Les ended up jamming with for one night and they had overnight success being the backing band for a young lady named Trudy Martin and a man named Ralph Raymonds

In 1977 Les decided that he was getting too old for music and so with approval from his wife he quit and went back to College and lost contact with Eddie

Les would run into Eddie in 1983 to which he (Eddie) had teamed up with a talented lady named Leslie who played piano and he most likely still lives in L.A today

Eddie Burkey would be credited as Eddie Ladd and wrote songs for some obscure 90s and 2000s bands and artists
