In this video, we cover the process of hitching the caravan to your tow vehicle, including:
• Raising the drawbar with the jockey wheel to align with the tow ball
• Positioning the vehicle so the tow ball sits directly under the hitch
• Lowering the hitch onto the tow ball and ensuring it’s securely seated
• Using the jockey wheel to lift free of the ground, rotating and locking it into its travel position
• Connecting the safety chains to the vehicle (crossed and secured with D-shackles)
• Keeping the handbrake engaged during the hitching process
• Connecting the 12-pin plug from the van to your vehicle
• Provision and use of supplied adapters to suit 7-pin flat, 7-pin small round, or 7-pin large round plugs
• Optional electric brake controller fitted to the van (for vehicles without an in-car brake controller)
• Overview of the Electric Brakes app for setup and operation
• Connecting the emergency breakaway cable to the vehicle chassis (not to the towbar)
• Explaining the breakaway unit and its function in activating the caravan brakes in an emergency
• Anderson plug splice connection to provide 12V power supply from tow vehicle to the van while towing
• Releasing the handbrake once everything is connected and checked
