Ampho B 50mg Injection is an #antifungal medication.
It is used in the treatment of severe fungal infections and kala-azar.
It kills the infection causing fungi and thus, treats the infection.
Amphotericin B is an antifungal medication used for serious fungal infections and leishmaniasis.
The fungal infections it is used to treat include mucormycosis, aspergillosis, blastomycosis, candidiasis, coccidioidomycosis, and cryptococcosis

Ampho B 50mg Injection works by killing the fungi which can cause serious infections.
Kala azar is a disease caused by leishmania parasites mainly by the bite of infected sandflies.

Side effects
Headache
Vomiting
Nausea
Stomach cramp
Fever
Anemia (low number of red blood cells)
Heartburn
Hyperventilation (rapid breathing)
Injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness)
CNS toxicity

Dose
Initially 1mg test dose is injected over 20 minutes IV
Then 0.3mg/kg body wt is infused over 4 to 8 hrs
Max 0.7mg/kg body wt

Precautions
Test dose is necessary
Canbe given in pregnancy
With hydrocortisone adverse rxn can be decrease
Contraindicated in Epilepsy & Renal impairment
