The Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games have been a real failure. If it was already difficult to monetize the crazy spending hosting such an event entailed, the coronavirus has made it even more difficult. The pandemic has forced Japan to close its doors to tourism, and that means that the country has not been able to capitalize on any of the infrastructure it built.

Moreover, these Olympic Games have been organized despite the reluctance of Japanese society, which has been making enormous sacrifices for more than a year to avoid infection.

But, above all, these Olympic Games mark a turning point in the interest generated by this competition. In the past, hosting the Olympics was the envy of any city or country. Now, almost nobody wants to host the Olympics.
