When I was in my late teens and early 20's I lived all over the Oklahoma City area. I was always struggling to pay one bill or another...or all of them, so I picked up a little side hustle by way of entering Karaoke contests all over the city. Thats how "Emily the Karaoke Queen" was born...self appointed of course hahaha!

"Forgive" played a big role in my Karaoke Queen days as it was one of what I called my "winnin' songs". I would pull out this powerhouse of a song at the end of the contest to secure my prize money. No one ever knew this helped keep my lights on and my singin' goin strong.

Now, fast forward a decade and a half...I recently had the pleasure of meeting Rebecca Lynn Howard and got to watch her perform "Forgive" live on her acoustic guitar. I sat there at a beautiful fundraising event that I had been lucky enough to be invited to and I cried. Big fat tears, the kind that just roll down your face, and you don't even care that you're wearing a beautiful dress and eating fancy food. I cried because this was a full circle moment for me. I used to listen to this song on my radio and sing it with everything I had...never in a million years believing I would get to see it performed live by Rebecca much less get to meet her and tell her how much her song meant to me. "Forgive" shaped me in a-lot of ways and its all because of an incredibly talented woman, brave enough to cut it herself on her first record.
