Inside The $5 Million Beechcraft King Air 200 Plane

0:00 - Intro
This is the Beechcraft King Air 200. On trips less than 500 nautical miles or 1,000 kilometers, the King Air 200 is not much slower than a jet, but will burn far less fuel, and can access small airports that many jets can’t. Today we’re going inside the Beechcraft King Air 200 to talk about everything you need to know about this legendary aircraft.

0:52 - Cabin
Inside, the Beechcraft King Air 200 cabin is renowned for its spaciousness and comfort. The interior features a tasteful design, with large, plush leather seats and a warm, welcoming color scheme. Cabin comfort is good, and the typical setup is a single-club with two seats behind the cockpit and a potty seat at the rear.
The cabin is capable of accommodating up to 7 passengers, and each seat is designed to provide ample legroom and headroom, allowing passengers to stretch out and relax during the flight. The seats are also adjustable, providing a high degree of flexibility and allowing passengers to adjust their position to their own personal comfort. The cabin is equipped with a range of modern entertainment systems, including a high-quality sound system, a DVD player, and a satellite-based Wi-Fi system that provides fast reliable internet access.
The King Air 200 has large windows, which makes the cabin an ideal choice for corporate travel, air ambulance, and other special missions.
The galley of the King Air 200 is well-designed and equipped with a range of appliances, including a microwave, coffee maker, and other appliances. The galley also has ample storage space for personal items, ensuring that passengers can travel with ease. The cabin of the King Air B200 is pressurized, ensuring a safe and comfortable flying environment, even at high altitudes.

3:18 - Cockpit
The cockpit of the King Air 200 has a well-appointed flight deck, designed to provide pilots with maximum control and comfort, including a digital flight control system, and autopilot. Avionics are all over the map because King Air 200s have been in production for so long. King Air B200s are equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21, and the newest emerge with Pro Line Fusion systems.
The cockpit is equipped with avionics systems that provide a high degree of situational awareness and help to reduce pilot workload. This includes 8 x 10-inch PFDs based on active-matrix LCD technology, and an MFD with primary engine information, systems synoptics, checklists, and navigational data.
The displays provide a lot of information, including real-time weather data, flight information, and navigation information, helping to ensure a safe and efficient flight. The cockpit also features a comprehensive communication system, including satellite-based communication systems, VHF and HF radios, and a digital audio control system.
King air 200 owners can add Garmin’s G1000 avionics suite, as well as synthetic and enhanced vision systems. Retrofits under development include autothrottles and antiskid brakes.

5:27 - Engine and Performance
Talking about performance, the King Air 200 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-42 with a TBO of 3,600 hours and with each one producing 850 shaft horsepower. This combination is able to push the aircraft to a maximum cruise speed of 290 knots and up to a maximum cruising altitude of 35,000 feet or 10,700 meters, with an average hourly fuel burn of 130 gallons or 492 liters. B200s modified with upgraded engines can even exceed 300 knots, but more on that later.
Fuel capacity is 544 gallons, giving the King Air 200 a maximum range of 1,580 nautical miles or 2,926 kilometers, and a range with full seats of 800 to 1,100 nautical miles, or 1,480 to 2,040 kilometers, depending on airframe weight. The plane can take off in 2,600 feet or 792 meters, has a maximum rate of climb per minute of 2,500 feet or 762 meters, and a minimum landing distance of 2,800 feet or 853 meters, all while maintaining a maximum payload of 2,180 lbs or 990 kg and a full-fuel payload of only 125 lbs or 57 kg.

7:44 - Popular Mods
Perhaps none of the aftermarket performance goodies are more famous than those designed by Raisbeck Engineering. They include a ram-air recovery system, enhanced-performance wing leading edges, dual aft-body strakes and enclosed gear doors for aircraft with high float gear.

9:22 - Purchase Price and Operating Cost
The base purchase price for a new King Air 200 is around $5 million before options, and while the total yearly fixed cost is roughly $200,000 to $300,000, the average hourly operating cost is estimated at $2,000 to $2,500.
