Ultramarathon runners need to do speed work. Incorporate this type of speed workout into your ultramarathon training for increased efficiency and injury prevention heading into your next race.

In this grueling speedwork session I did 5 x 1,000 meter repeats. As I am training for a 100K ultra marathon that has a cutoff, I will need to make sure that I am not just strong enough to finish a 100K, but also fast enough. Accordingly I am doing speed training.
