From 1947 to 1971, the people of East Bengal faced discrimination in politics, economy, and culture. The Language Movement of 1952 proved our love for Bangla. The Six-Point Demand of 1966 gave us the path to autonomy. In 1971, after years of struggle and the brutal Operation Searchlight, our Liberation War began.

In 1971, the people of Bangladesh rose with courage and unity against oppression. For nine months, freedom fighters, students, farmers, workers, and ordinary citizens fought side by side for an independent nation. Over 3 million lives were lost, and countless sacrifices were made — but the dream of a free Bangladesh became reality on 16 December 1971.

Today, we honor the martyrs, the freedom fighters, and every soul who stood for justice, dignity, and independence. The Liberation War is not just history — it is the heartbeat of our nation.
