My Winter Wild Camp From Hell! How it All Went Terribly Wrong!

What started off as a promising looking wild camp turned into the worst wild camping experience I could imagine. If only I had taken my 9 Inch Easton tent pegs the tent would have been secured, unfortunately the ground underneath the snow was a bit soft and muddy probably from all the previous rain. No boulders about either to put on top of the pegs just wasn’t my day. The wind gusts only started after the tent was put up but they got worse as the night went on. At one point I thought I was going to just about get away with it but then the wind was hitting the tent from the side and front, it was taking a battering. Getting off the mountain in the dark was certainly an experience with the snow and high winds, thankfully I had good battery life in my head torch and also my micro spikes for my boots with all the ice at the bottom half of the mountain. Lessons to be learned.
