AcuRite Weather Station Setup and Install

Siting: When you are ready to find a place to mount your 5-in-1, consider the most open place with no obstructions above or in close proximity. I have this tall 8 foot fence around the yard, so I’m considering mounting the 5-in-1 at the top of the play structure. For a couple of reasons: it will give me good wind measurements as it gets the station above the tall fence, and it’s easy location for install and maintenance. (No need to get the ladder out!)

Installation: All you need is a screwdriver and the compass on your smartphone. First, I screw the mount into the peak of my kid’s play structure. Then place the 5-in-1 unit on the mount and get the compass out to make sure the “S arrow” is facing south. This will give your station optimum power to the solar panels, as well as correct wind direction data. Alternatively, if you are setting up this station in the Southern Hemisphere, the “S arrow” needs to point North.

Once you are happy with the direction, secure the station to the mount with the small screws to keep it from swiveling on the mount pole.

Done: So there you go, we have Penny’s new 5-in-1 setup on her playground. This setup took less than 30 mins from the time I pulled it out of the box, to installation, which includes reporting to both the indoor display and the My AcuRite platform so the data can be viewed from the My AcuRite website or the app. A very straightforward and easy setup and installation.
