Last Friday Christy Moore and Declan Sinnott played one of the most amazing gigs the people of Galway have ever seen. This is just one song from an extraordinary evening at the Big Top of the Galway Arts Festival.

Since "Ride On" is a widely accepted Christy Moore album it has been re-issued ever since its release in 1984. It has been regarded as not only one of the best possible introductions to Christy but also to a vein of writing. The title track was written by one of Ireland's most famous songwriters Cork man Jimmy MacCarthy and many people have often given their own interpretation of the song, which is thought to be the sign of its power.

Sing Along...

True you ride the finest horse I have ever seen
Standing sixteen, one or two, with eyes wild and green
And you ride the horse so well, hands light to the touch
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to

Ride on, see you, I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, i could never go with you
No matter how i wanted to

When you ride into the night without a trace behind
Run your claw along my gut, one last time
I turn to face an empty space, where once you used to lie
And look for a spark that lights the dark
Through a teardrop in my eye
