Born to a Dalit family in Uttar Pradesh in 1963. Phoolan Devi was only 16 when bandits kidnapped her. She was raped and tortured repeatedly. Then she took the gun. This was the beginning of her life as the 'Bandit Queen'. Thirteen years ago, Phoolan Devi, then a Samajwadi Party MP, was murdered in daylight at the gate of her Ashoka Road residence in Delhi. A Delhi court on Friday convicted the main accused Sher Singh Rana.
