The Super Heavy booster will attempt a series of maneuvers including a controlled flip, boostback burn, high-angle descent, and a hard splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico. Notably, the landing burn will test a new configuration using backup engines, simulating scenarios for future flight resiliency.

Starship’s upper stage will follow a suborbital trajectory, deploying 8 Starlink simulators and testing multiple heat shield tile variations — including actively cooled metallic tiles. This will be one of the most aggressive thermal stress tests of the upper stage’s rear flaps and fuselage.

Real-time data from these experiments will guide improvements in vehicle reusability, turnaround time, and future mission reliability. With every flight, SpaceX aims to bring Starship closer to full and rapid reusability — essential for Moon, Mars, and beyond.
