A Brief Biography of Hazrat Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi)
Parentage and Early Life:
Hazrat Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi) was the son of Sultan Fakhruddin Shah of Baghdad. From a young age, he exhibited a contemplative nature and detachment from worldly affairs. He memorized the entire Quran and spent his time in worship and devotion.
Spiritual Journey:
Upon his father’s death, the responsibility of governing the kingdom was placed upon Hazrat Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi). However, driven by his love for the Divine, he renounced all worldly comforts and set out in search of Allah. During his travels, he met Hazrat Shah Jalal (Rahmatullah Alaihi) and accompanied him to Bengal. Following the instructions of Hazrat Shah Jalal (Rahmatullah Alaihi), he began spreading Islam in the Gerda area of Faridpur district.
Relics and Legacy:
When Hazrat Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi) came from Baghdad to Bengal, he brought with him sacred relics, including the blessed hair of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and a garment of Ghaus-e-Azam Abdul Qadir Jilani (Rahmatullah Alaihi). The then Sultan of Delhi, upon seeing these valuable items, granted him 12,000 bighas of land in the Faridpur district. After some time, he moved to Mirpur in Dhaka, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Miracles (Karamat):
1. Tree of Hope: Hazrat Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi) transformed a branch into a tree through his miraculous power. This tree, known as the Sinni tree, still stands tall beside his shrine, where devotees light candles and make vows, often finding their prayers answered.
2. Fire Incident: A few years ago, a fire broke out in the Sinni tree and couldn't be extinguished by the fire service for three days. Following the advice of the shrine's caretaker, they invoked Hazrat Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi) and threw sacred water on the fire, which miraculously extinguished immediately.
3. Tallest Shrine in Bangladesh: The shrine of Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi) is the tallest in Bangladesh.
4. Mystical Prayer Incident: It is said that during a 40-day seclusion (Chilla), Hazrat Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi) instructed his disciples not to open the door until the period was over. On the 39th day, loud cries were heard from his room, and upon opening the door, his disciples found his body dismembered, a testament to his intense spiritual practice and devotion.
Revival of the Shrine:
For about 200 years, the shrine remained unknown and unvisited. Later, a saint named Shah Muhammad discovered the shrine and took the initiative to clean and renovate it. Since then, the shrine's prominence has only increased.
Weekly Gatherings:
Every Thursday, a large gathering takes place at the shrine. Famous musicians, saints, and devotees come together to sing praises and honor Hazrat Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi). Thousands of people attend, filling the area with devotion and reverence.
It is believed that Hazrat Shah Ali Bogdadi (Rahmatullah Alaihi) is still spiritually alive and responds to the sincere calls of his devotees.
