British Columbia's police watchdog has cleared the RCMP of criminal wrongdoing in the 2012 shooting death of retired soldier Greg Matters near Prince George. The Independent Investigations Office did a supplementary review after a pathologist testified Matters was shot in the back, contrary to what the agency said in a report. The office said unclear language accounted for the difference between its report and the pathologist's testimony. Meantime, today Chief Civilian Director Richard Rosenthal, a civilian monitor, will conduct an administrative review of the IIO investigation into Greg Matters' death. Vancouver lawyer Mark Jette will conduct the review.
