A 150-watt 8Ω with IRS2092 + IRFB4020PBF Class D audio power amplifier project.

Project 55 features International Rectifier’s IRS2092, a high voltage, high performance Class D audio amplifier driver with PWM modulator and protection. The addition of two external digital audio IRFB4020PBF power MOSFETs and other few components made up this Class D power amplifier capable of delivering a measured power output of 154.88 watts across an 8Ω load. when connected to ±50VDC power supply rails.

Project 55 is a single-ended Class D audio power amplifier with an IRS2092PBF in a socketed PDIP-16 version. The IRS2092SPBF SOIC16N version can also be used by mounting it into a SOIC16N to PDIP16 adapter. The adapter is then populated into the U2 location on the PCB.

The concept of Project 55 is based on the application diagram by International Rectifier's IRS2092 spec sheet, AN-1138 and IRAUDAMP7D reference design manual.
