getting out my Husqvarna Lawn tractor mower with hydrostatic transmission April 2012 I find it moving slower than normal and sometimes jerking ? Many other brands of mowers I know have similar hydrostatic transmissions and belt tensioning setups that are very similar to the Husqvarna Lawn tractors. S0 if your lawn tractor has a hydrostatic transmission you may experience the same problems I did and a good cleaning out of the grass clippings under the mower frame may return your lawn tractor to proper operation just like mine So back to my story ... Thinking it was a bad belt I was ready to go to the Mower shop and get a new one but decided to look up the problem on Youtube before getting a new belt . I found this youtube video very helpful and interesting titled ......WATCH BEFORE YOU CHANGE HUSQVARNA DRIVE BELT ........ The video was on a different model of Huqvarna mower but watching it I decided to try and clean the grass clippings out of my Lawn tractor thinking it might help my slow motion lawn tractor. My wife suggested doing this WITHOUT removing the mowing deck . My lawn tractor is less than 3 years old but I am 78 . So at the suggestion of my wife and with her doing a lot of the actual work using a small shop vac we were able to clean out a considerable amount of the dried grass clumps. My mower here is on a Mojak lawn tractor jack so I can get under it to remove and sharpen the blades and also remove grass clippings stuck under the mower deck having it on the Mojak helped some but I think the Mojak is not necessary for cleaning the grass clippings out of the mower frame area near where the brake pedal mechanism is the only thing here is just to lower the mower deck as low as possible and use a shop vac with a small diameter hose .When Doing this cleaning we wore masks of the same type we wear when going shopping. After sucking out as much of the clippings as we could with the small shopvac I pushed the mower outside the garage and took the shop vac hose and plugged it in the outlet hole on the shopvac and blew out some more of the grass clippings . I then washed the
mower and with the garden hose blasted out even more grass clippings . After letting the Lawn tractor dry for a few hours it started right up and runs like new . NOTE! when washing a mower do not spray water on a hot mower motor let it cool down ! you may crack the cylinder !
