‘Against The Demon Of Self’ is a new work for one person at a time, by Bristol based live artist and film maker Andrew Neil Hayes. Utilising both live and prerecorded video projection together with the body, these one-to-one performances provided an intimate space to explore the divide between outer and inner worlds. Increasingly, we act out our lives online. Could it be wise to assume that the internet has now taken the place of our body, as a container for the self?

Following on from ‘You’ve Got Five Minutes’ (Kosar Contemporary, Bristol, 2019) and ‘That’s a horse of a different colour…’ (Kosar Contemporary, Bristol, 2020), this is the latest in a series of works for singular audiences.
