STORYLINE:

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his wife Lyudmila hosted a dinner party on Friday night for about 45 world leaders who are visiting Russia's former imperial capital and Putin's hometown for its 300th anniversary.

The dinner took place abroad the cruiser Silver Whisper which was moored along the English Embankment in downtown St. Petersburg.

Most leaders were staying on the cruiser for the night.
