Yahoo Mail SMTP Settings, Generating App Passwords & WordPress Integration

In this video, you will learn how to configure Yahoo Mail for SMTP and how to generate the app password for your Yahoo Mail account.

To use Yahoo Mail for SMTP, you must have an app password created. An app password is a secure method of using email with third-party services.

Here are the reasons to use App Password for SMTP:
1. You need not expose the Yahoo mail password with any third-party application or tool. So no one can have complete access to the account.
2. You can turn on two-factor authentication for the account and still use it on an SMTP server.
3. You can revoke the app password anytime.

On the My Account page of the Yahoo account, you can create an app password. You can create multiple app passwords for a Yahoo account. Once you generate an app password, you can view it for once. If you lose it, you need to create another one.

After generating the App password, go to this Yahoo guide: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4724.html; you will find the SMTP host, encryption types, and SMTP port for the Yahoo account.

In this tutorial, I have tested the SMTP configuration with a WordPress website. You can use the configuration for any other purpose. A few SMTP testing tools are available for free.
