Spruce Creek Horse Campground is located on the fringe of Big South Fork National Park 140 miles Northeast of Nashville. The campground offers over 12 mostly shaded sites fully equipped with water, 30 and 50 amp electric hookups and sewer. Amenities include hay, firewood, shavings, a community kitchen and firepit, hitching rails, wifi, picnic tables and a showerhouse. For those without living quarters, take your pick of 6 rustic cabins.
For the horses, Spruce Creek offers over a dozen 10x10 stalls located in their main barn equipped with lights and water.
Located within the Spruce Creek Equestrian Community, the campground offers riders of all skill levels the opportunity to ride community paths as well as Big South Fork trails.
The community trails run through the expansive community alongside its lightly used roadways often used by wagon riders. This is a great option for beginner riders as most of these paths are flat with easy footing. The entrance to Big South Fork trails is a short ride from the campground and leads to over 200 miles of varying terrain. Big South Fork is known nationwide for its beautiful views.
Some of my favorite trail destinations in the Spruce Creek area are Hippy Cave, and Sawtooth Overlook. The trails are well marked at intersections making it easy to navigate. The footing is rocky making shoes or boots necessary and the terrain in all of Big South Fork is hilly. You’ll enjoy a great variety of views like caves, overlooks, fields, forests, and plenty of wildlife. Spruce Creek Campground’s cozy atmosphere is a great place to get away, get quiet and get reconnected with your horse and nature.
