Iron Age - Megalith Culture - South India - 1000 BC to 100 AD
The English word is the combination of two Greek words mega = huge and Lith = stone thus the meaning of megalith in present context is graves or memorials made from large pieces of stone.
Megaliths were made either as a graves for burying the dead person or as a memorial to commemorate the dead person.
Important sites of megalith culture -
Andhra Pradesh, Karnatka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu.

In South India, about 40 types of Megaliths are found in which from the single standing stone to rock cut cave are included.

The important types of Megaliths are :
Menhir - local language "Nadu-Kal"
Hood Stone - local language - "Kudai Kal"
Umbrella Stone - local language - "Topi Kal"
Dolmen - means "table of stone"
Cairn Circle - local language - "Nidai Kal Teddi"
Rock Cut Caves - local language - "Tadi Caves"

Black & Red Ware Culture - BRW Culture
Ochre Coloured Pottery Culture - OCP Culture
Painted Grey Ware Culture - PGW Culture
Northern Black Polished Ware Culture - NBPW Culture

Ex : Shallow Plate, Deep Bowl, Cover with knob, Small Pot, Big Pot, Etc.
Important Colour - Black, Red, Grey, Ochre.

Iron Implements :
33 types of Iron Implements - Flat Axes, Spades, Sickles, Chisels, Hatcher, Knives, Bridles(of horse),
horse shoes, tridents, swords, daggers, etc.
