CAN'T BELIEVE THIS WINE at P250 ($5) | Best Cheap Italian Red from Puglia: Negroamaro + Malvasia

Описание к видео CAN'T BELIEVE THIS WINE at P250 ($5) | Best Cheap Italian Red from Puglia: Negroamaro + Malvasia

Getting started on wine doesn't have to be expensive and intimidating! In this video, I'm sharing one of the best value wines that i can't believe is just at P250 or $5! Typically, cheap wines that we can get in the Philippines are from the old world: South America (Chile and Argentina), South Africa, and Australia. Being in the tropics and thousands of miles away from the world's wine regions, it's understandably hard to get quality wine at affordable prices in the Philippines. Even the nearest wine region, Australia, is more than 4,000 kilometres away! Thus I'm quite surprised that we have a good value wine here that's from the Old World and from a country that has one of the most respected traditions in winemaking: Italy!

Italy is home to the world's best wines coming from a handful of esteemed wine regions. Perhaps the most well-known Italian wine regions are Tuscany, Sicily, and Piemonte. Today's wine comes from a slightly lesser known wine region: Puglia. Even though it's less of a household name, Puglia has been making wine in the last 2,000 years! This region is best known for its tourism industry but lately, it's also started to get notice for its wine production. Interestingly, the topography of Puglia is a coastal climate bounded by the Adriatic Sea, the Ionian Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea as Puglia sits at the heel of Italy's boot-shaped geography. This region is a contrast to the hilly wine producing regions in the north where Tuscany and Piemonte are. This region is marked by its distinguishably warmer climate that yields fruitier produce with its coastal temperature allowing the grapes to cool down at night. Puglia is home to Primitivo, but today's Rosso from wine grower Vezzani has a blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia.
