Breaking news for commuters: The transport staff strike in Karnataka has been temporarily called off, allowing KSRTC and BMTC buses to resume normal operations from tomorrow. The Joint Action Committee (JAC) and transport unions have reached a consensus to pause the strike while giving the state government an 11-day deadline to address pending demands.
According to the union leaders, the government has been given until March 2 to fully respond and ensure all outstanding issues, including arrears and salary revisions, are addressed. If the government fails to act within this timeframe, the unions have warned that the strike will resume immediately.
The decision to pause the strike has also sparked internal discussions among transport workers. Some members have expressed anger towards JAC leadership, claiming their concerns were not fully represented. Despite this, the unions insist that the pause is temporary and public transport services must continue for the benefit of commuters.
“ಮಾ. 2ರೊಳಗೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಬರದಿದ್ರೆ, ಮುಷ್ಕರ ಮತ್ತೆ ಖಂಡಿತ,” said a senior member of the Joint Action Committee, underlining that the transport staff are serious about their demands. Commuters can now plan their travel with KSRTC and BMTC buses running as usual, but the unions continue to monitor government responses closely.
