This Greek Chocolate Mousse with Mastiha & Extra-Virgin Olive Oil is a lighter, Mediterranean take on the classic dessert—rich, silky, and deeply flavorful without heavy cream. Instead, it uses heart-healthy Greek olive oil, proving that olive oil belongs in dessert just as much as savory cooking.
I made this recipe with my son, Yiorgos, on Season 5 of My Greek Table, in the episode Olive Oil & Longevity. The episode explores how olive oil plays a powerful role in Mediterranean longevity—and yes, that includes chocolate desserts.

This is a classic mousse made with raw eggs, as many traditional recipes are. If you prefer, you can use pasteurized eggs or gently cook the egg-sugar mixture over a double boiler before folding it in—both methods work beautifully.
