Join me today as I check out the recently decked out M7 simulator at the OBRM. Over the course of the last year or so, volunteers have been working to integrate Train Simulator World software from Dovetail Games into the hardware of the simulator that was donated to the museum by the Long Island Rail Road. The result is a fairly realistic representation of what it is like to operate an M7 multiple unit train down the Hempstead branch towards New York Penn Station. Although several concessions had to be made to make the simulation more kid-friendly, like the removal of air brake and PTC features, the experience is still quite immersive and enjoyable.

Be sure to check out and support the Oyster Bay RR museum, which is open on weekends from 12p to 4p, and check out TSW if you don't already have the software. Enjoy =)
