State's public drug use law now in effect

Big changes in the state's fight against drugs. Starting Monday, anyone in possession or caught using illegal drugs in our state could face misdemeanor charges. But that isn't the case in Seattle since city leaders have not put the law into the city books, meaning they can't actually prosecute drug charges.
