Having always been of the belief that Porrohman is almost "other worldly" in the haunting beauty of the music but alongside dark lyrics, inspired by H.G Wells short story, "Pollack and the Porrohman", I set about trying to find a visual accompaniment that would suit.

"Night hangs on the city like a blanket on a cage..."

"We are waiting in a forest
Deep and dark behind the wall
What is hidden in our hearts
Absolves us of all worry
When our fate is in the hands
Of a demon or a God..."

The answer was there all along - the darkness of the night sky, peppered with millions of stars and constellations - "Those once lost have now been found..."
It seemed a similar juxtaposition to the nature of the music - uplifting and grand - set to a dark story of witchdoctors, spells, voodoo and the occult - Stuart telling audiences in early performances of the song how music, like religion, has been used to split people into opposing factions.
Porrohman was not only ambitious lyrically but a landmark piece of music for Big Country. As high a compliment as can be bestowed, it was chosen to see out side 2 on the first album 'The Crossing' - effectively winding up the first chapter of the band's career.

As a sidenote, this is about as "arty" as I'm ever going to get with a Big Country clip, it was just a little experiment initiated by an idea to see how the imagery would work with the music. I think it is a worthy pair.
Big Country - Porrohman (live in Munich, 1983) as you've never seen it before.
I hope you enjoy it, watching it in darkness is recommended - as is substantial volume. ;)
