This video is about the Maritime Mobile Service Network (MMSN). This volunteer group operates daily on HF bands, primarily 14.300 MHz, to assist maritime operators with routine and emergency communications. Their mission includes handling health and welfare traffic, supporting vessels at sea with weather and position reports, and relaying information to the U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies when necessary.

In the video, I share how helpful they have been not only in carrying out their mission, but also in working with ham operators like myself. For those of us on land, they provide valuable assistance in checking that our rigs are working properly and in giving signal reports. They also create an important link between amateur radio operators and maritime stations, ensuring reliable communication when commercial channels may not be available.

The MMSN is a reminder of how amateur radio continues to serve a practical role in safety, support, and community across both sea and land.
