“This Shabbat is unlike any other.


We're not here together with one another physically in our beautiful Temple home, The Saban Theatre. But we're still together emotionally and spiritually.


The Torah reading for the Shabbat begins the cycle of the reading from Leviticus, the third of the five books of Moses. Viakra Leviticus is all about the different sacrifices that were offered during the time that the Israelites wander and at the time of the Holy Temple.


When I think about the Torah reading for the next few weeks through the book of Leviticus we have one of the greatest quotes from the Torah the golden rule “love your neighbor as yourself.”


These new circumstances that we are facing will present us with many opportunities to put this principle into practice.


We are called upon to join in the effort to be, if you will, enlisted in the army of combating a virus. We are called to fight this enemy with sacrifice and love. All of us could be proud that we were part of that effort and through God's help, our efforts will succeed, bear fruit and restore us to everything we wish to have restored in our lives.
