In Automation Testing Design Patterns is a solution to a commonly occurring problem in software automation Process. It is a guideline for a automation tester to write a clean and maintainable code which improves the performance of any reusable code, automation scripts or application. With the help of design patterns you can develop a scalable automated scripts with less maintenance cost.

There are majorly 7 design patterns,
1. Record and Play - Tools let the tester hit record and manually go through the real-user actions of a pre-scripted test case. When the tester is done, the tool will have created a script that can automatically run those exact same actions automatically
2. Classical Design Pattern - Classical Design require the creation of small, independent scripts that represents features, functionality or module of system based on it’s own managed data sources.
3. Structured Design Pattern - These design patterns are about organizing different classes and objects to form larger structures and provide new functionality. A graphical representation of the pattern.
4. (Fa-saad) Facade Design Pattern - The whole idea of facade design pattern is to provide simple and easy to use interface to a larger and more complex code, API or set of APIs.
5. Singleton Design Pattern - Singleton pattern is used in a case where you want to restrict the instantiation of a class to only one object. If the creation of a class requires significant resources then a singleton is a suitable solution.
6. Page Object Design Pattern - The Page Object Model is a widely used object design pattern for structuring automation test code. Each page has it’s own Test, Locator & Action file.
7. Complex Design Pattern - Artificial Intelligence pattern for combining disparate sources of data. Provide a way to access the elements of an aggregate object sequentially without exposing its underlying representation.
