Nitin Vasanth talks about his journey from his curiosity in learning new things to his college life in CUSAT that helped him pursue his passion, to his Start-up. Having got involved in a project on brainwave mapping that didn't go well later and even though not Academically sound, he still had the confidence to pursue his own project with dedication. Help from equally interested and curious peers led him to be a part of the Maker society, hosting the biggest Maker event at that time, helping out others in learning while learning new things himself, helped him improve his ideas and be part of the TinkerHub Foundation. He talks about the road accident that demotivated him while he was in his college final year and how he won at a hackathon that reinforced his passion for learning, eventually leading him to win the Accenture's Innovation Jockey event and the National Award from Rashtrapati Bhawan for innovation. He concludes with the four great life lessons he learnt throughout his journey. The first lesson is having faith in oneself and the confidence to face challenges and failures. Trying out new things and keeping the curiosity alive can take us a long way in learning and discovering new arenas of interests. Second is peer to peer learning which includes self learning and teaching others, ultimately opening the door to vast knowledge and great opportunities. Third is to never let the thought that we're not good enough or will not succeed keep us from going or applying for opportunities that come our way. And final one is that marks aren't the only thing that defines you. One's academical performance should never discourage one from pursuing one's dreams. He ends his career journey by quoting "you miss hundred percent of the shots you didn't take". A passionate innovator and a start-up enthusiast, he made his alma mater, CUSAT, proud when he was presented the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for his project- Neuro Buds conceptualised on a brainwave mapping smart earphone, which detects brain signals. He was one of the top 10 Indians chosen for the Rajeev Circle Fellowship and was also invited to the Facebook F8 Developer Conference. An extremely popular name among techies in Cochin, he is the founder of NeuroTech Labs and the Chapter lead of Facebook Developer Circles, Cochin. This talented alumnus of CUSAT has made it big for himself at a very young age with his sheer brilliance.
