17-09-2014 ( Riprese effettuate con Videocamera Samsung HMX-H100P/EDS )The fort Corbin (or Forte Punta Corbin) was a military fortress built to defend the Italian border against the Austro-Hungarian Empire (along the border line that currently can be placed between the province of Vicenza and Trentino); it is located at 1077 meters above sea level. The fort is located in the municipality of Roana (VI), on the southwestern edge of the Altopiano of Asiago-Sette Comuni and it takes its name from the rocky spur overlooking the Val d'Astico on which it rests. The fort was built between 1906 and 1914. Because of its position significantly rearward from the front, it remained virtually idle during the First World War. Currently it is a private ownership, and it offers catering service and bar with an adjacent small museum of military history. Mount Cengio is a 1,354 m high mountain belonging to the Altipiano dei Sette Comuni. It is located in the municipality of Cogollo del Cengio (VI). It was the scene of important battles during the First World War, which involved the unit of the Grenadiers of Sardinia (between May 29 and June 3, 1916, 10,264 men also belonging to infantry of Brigades Catanzaro, Novara, Trapani and Modena were killed or wounded or missed). The mountain became the last bastion to Austro-Hungarian attack. In case of enemy occupation, the Imperials could easily reach the Venetian plain. The entire area is now considered sacred to the country. A sheer entrenchment trail and a church dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives can here be visited. As a memorial to their death you can here find a grenadier statue made of pieces of exploded grenades.
