This footage shows a bizarre and terrifying lesson where nursery school kids are taught to be scared of strangers by offering them sweets and then kidnapping them if they accept.

The teacher - named only as Ms Jing by local media - dressed up as a villain and offered them treats to see if they could resist the temptation, before then pretending to kidnap them if they accepted any of her offerings.

The safety class took place at a local nursery school in Zhengyang County, in the southeast of Henan province, in central China, on Saturday, 8th October.

Ms Jing gave her class a very vivid lesson by dressing up in a large coat and sunglasses, carrying a bag full of snacks and toys and offering them to the kids.

One of the youngsters naively accepts the snacks the "bad guy" hands him and she proceeds to pick him up and carry him away to demonstrate what could happen in a real-life situation.

Having seen this, the other children then persistently refuse to take whatever Ms Jing pulls out of the bag of goodies, with one kid even crying and another running away from the fictitious crook.

The video of the unusual safety class was posted on Douyin - the Chinese version of TikTok - where many netizens laughed at what they thought was the cute reactions of the kids, while also agreeing that it proved highly educational.

Some netizens commented: "It's better to see it than to hear it!"

Ms Jing later told local media that she decided to make a ''live-action performance'' for her pupils to make them understand why they should never take things from strangers and strengthen their awareness of the danger of being abducted.

She said that the children in the small class are relatively young and when teachers merely talk about safety, it is easy to forget, so she adopted this role-playing method to educate the kids.

Ms Jing added: "The actual effect of the course is very good, and it has achieved the expected educational purpose. Some children told their parents after school that they should not take things from strangers. I asked them again this morning if they could take things from strangers, and they all replied. No."

A spokesperson for the nursery school also told local media that they teach safety classes every week. For children of different ages, teachers will arrange different forms and themes of role-playing activities.
