Emergency response and urgent relief has been reactivated as torrential downpours lashed Tianshui City of northwest China's Gansu Province since Sunday, forcing large-scale evacuation of local residents to safer places, said local disaster relief authorities.

The torrential rains battered the urban and rural areas of the city, destroying civil facilities, disrupting road traffic, inundating houses and damaging power supplies in parts of the hardest-hit areas.

Starting from Sunday afternoon, torrential downpours lashed Tianshui, with the precipitation exceeding 100 mm in Malu Town of Tianshui's Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County.

The rain-triggered flood in Malu's Huayuan Village inundated houses and trapped nine people. The rain also flooded a bridge which connected the village to a neighbouring county of Longxian in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, leading to traffic interruptions between the two places.

The local fire department immediately dispatched rescue workers to the scene to clear the silt on the bridge and resume the traffic.

Rescuers also cleared silt and debris left in houses and blocked watercourses with forklifts, and immediately carried out rescue work. All nine trapped people were rescued.

The local fire department, traffic police and emergency department staff continued to clear and reopen the blocked road sections leading to Longxian County.

A total of 45 vehicles and 127 people stranded around the bridge were evacuated to safety.

馬陸花苑村暴雨引發的洪水淹沒房屋，9人被困。雨水還淹沒了連接該村與鄰近的陝西省隴縣縣的一座橋樑，導致兩地之間的交通中斷。

當地消防部門立即出動救援人員趕赴現場清理橋上淤泥，恢復交通。

救援人員還用叉車清除房屋內殘留的淤泥和雜物，並用叉車堵塞河道，並立即展開救援工作。 9名被困人員全部獲救。

當地消防部門、交警部門和應急部門的工作人員繼續清理和重新開放通往隴縣的被封鎖路段。

共有45輛汽車和127名滯留在橋周圍的人被疏散到安全地帶。
